The 26th annual California Water Policy Conference offers participants an opportunity to learn about some of the most important, controversial, and challenging issues and opportunities facing water policy decision makers in the state. The CWP conference planning committee pursues the best plenary speakers and workshop panelists from around California. These experts represent the diverse stakeholder perspectives and interests involved in water issues. This two-day conference will advance the discussion and further everyone on the path toward creative solutions for the complex and often polarizing problems involving our state's water supply and quality.
Who should apply
An applicant must demonstrate how he/she can put to use the information presented at the conference. Nonprofit organizations and graduate/undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Consideration will be given to those with financial need, who without assistance would otherwise be unable to attend. Particular attention will be given to those with diverse perspectives on California water policy.
How to apply
Fill out the accompanying form and email it by 5pm on Friday, February 24, 2017, to: Debbi Dodson, email@example.com (Call 858-272-6804, if you need assistance.) Scholarship applications will not be accepted after this date and time.
What the Scholarship Offers
The scholarship is based, in part, on financial need as conveyed in your application. If awarded a scholarship, the recipient of the scholarship is required to contribute the following costs: $50 scholarship registration fee, which includes all conference sessions and lunch. (Note: the scholarship does not include the tour on Thursday afternoon.) For those applicants outside of the Sacramento Valley region, scholarship funds may provide financial assistance for hotel lodging by subsidizing one night's lodging at the conference hotel (shared with one other scholarship recipient of the same gender); and transportation assistance (e.g., reimbursing costs associated with mileage, airfare, train). Those local to the Sacramento Valley region must cover their own travel costs; accommodation for overnight lodging will not be offered. The scholarship is valued at between $200 and $450 depending on hotel and transportation needs.
How Scholars will be Selected
The conference scholarship committee will review, screen, and deliberate on all scholarship applications received. This committee will choose among applicants based on their brief, but clearly written answers to the questions in the scholarship application. Other factors the committee will consider include financial needs, references and diverse points of view.
When Applicants will be Notified
Applicants will be notified no later than March 8, 2017.
